Federal prosecutors say a Rochester-area radiologist scammed thousands of dollars off of insurance companies for three years.
Dr. Thomas Stephenson, 71 of Rochester, was charged with heath care fraud.
Prosecutors claim Stephenson submitted fake claims for reimbursement to Excellus Health, MVP Health Care and Medicare.
He allegedly inflated the number of x-rays performed between 2007 and 2010, bringing in more than $180,000. The charge carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.
He is due back in court October 14.
