Opponent Compares Congressional Candidate To Kim Kardashian

Does Marilinda Garcia have anything in common with Kim Kardashian?

Marilinda Garcia is running for Congress - and one of her bitterest opponents immediately compared her on Twitter to Kim Kardashian.

Garcia, 30, a Republican, has a 'slightly' different resume than the reality TV star, however. An accomplished musician, Garcia has been a New Hampshire state rep since 2006, and earned a joint undergraduate degree fromTufts University and the New England Conservatory of Music followed by a Master's in Public Policy from Harvard.

According to , 'Garcia does consulting work in the cyber security industry and is an adjunct faculty member in the music department at Phillips Exeter Academy. During her time at the Statehouse, she has sponsored or co-sponsored 21 bills, seven of which have been signed into law, including one extending the state's research and development tax credit and another authorizing a program to promote the investment of venture capital funds in New Hampshire businesses.'

These non-Kardashian credentials didn't stop Democrat state rep and extreme liberal Peter Sullivan from making the Kardashian comparison and branding her a 'lightweight' shortly after Garcia announced on Monday she would seek the GOP nomination for New Hampshire's 2nd Congressional District. Garcia will compete in a primary against former state senator and ex-Marine Gary Lambert and any other candidates that might jump in. The incumbent in the swing district is Democrat Anne Kuster.

Sullivan apparently took a lot of heat on social media for his comments about Garcia's candidacy, after which he tweeted out an apology... to Kardashian.

The New Hampshire Republican Party issued the following statement:

'For too long women in our society have been judged by their appearance rather than their accomplishments and made subject to the ignorant assaults of men like Peter Sullivan. If our daughters are to have any chance of pursuing their dreams in a society that is free of fabricated limitations and unjust personal assaults then so-called leaders like Representative Annie Kuster must call upon her fellow Democrats to put an end to their offensive and chauvinistic rhetoric.'
