Health insurance is so important and we spend more time picking out a new television than picking out our insurance plan.
'Recently saw a consumer report that said something like people spend 10 minutes choosing a health insurance plan and it's one of the most expensive things we purchase in a given year,' said Kansas State University Community Health Expert Roberta Riportella.
She says the worst offenders are employees renewing their health insurance. Most policies change from year to year. Riportella says you need to look out for these key changes:
'Another thing that changes from year to year is the network of providers so your doctor may be taking one type of insurance one year and no longer be in that network in the second year and that has been happening forever, that has nothing to do with the health law changes,' Riportella said. 'This is just the way the insurance industry works.'
Riportella suggests filling out a worksheet to find the best fit for health insurance.By the way, the average time spent picking out a TV is two hours.
