UPDATE: Kanye West's 'Yeezianity' Is Bogus, Creator Speaks On Alleged New Religion

Written by Cyrus Langhorne

Days after the Internet heated up courtesy of reports claiming Kanye West had sparked a new religion called Yeezianity, the creator has stepped forward to set the record straight.

Despite being presented as a legit new movement, Yeezianity won't be recognized as an official way of living anytime soon.

Don't take my word for it: Vice's Eric Sundermann took the time to actually talk to the anonymous founder of what Sundermann calls 'the first religion based on Kanye West.' One of his first questions: 'Is Yeezianity for real?' Here's the answer: 'I believe in what it is, and that's real. But is there a real organized religion behind it? There is not. At first, I thought about putting on that it was -- I thought that'd be more viral or whatever -- but I'm not going to be able to uphold that. So right now, it's just an idea. I only created this a month ago, so we'll see where it goes. The idea has yet to get out there. Who knows what could come this way? But it's an idea, and before anything can manifest, it has to start as an idea. In a lot of ways, after I created it, I reflected on it and thought that this was just a rehashing of Christianity, but just throwing Yeezus instead of Jesus.' [Vice] (The Week)

The overnight group detailed five main points which embody every Yeezian earlier this month.

An anonymous group of people have taken that song pretty literally, it seems, because they've formed an official religion centered around Kanye called Yeezianity. According to its website, the group 'believes that the one who calls himself Yeezus is a divine being who has been sent by God to usher in a New Age of humanity.' 'We could be anyone you know, from your mailman to the mayor of your city,' the website says. Here are the religion's five pillars: 1. All things created must be for the good of all 2. No human being's right to express themselves must ever be repressed 3. Money is unnecessary except as a means of exchange 4. Man possesses the power to create everything he wants and needs 5. All human suffering exists to stimulate the creative powers of Man (TIME)

The person responsible for starting the church of Yeezus decided to remain in the shadows but explained what motivated Yeezianity.

'First of all, he is the most honest person in our culture. He has the highest moral standards and highest integrity. He is the most creative person. And as it's typical with creative people, he gets a lot of flack from the lower minded masses. It's not even that they don't like him, it's that they don't know what he's doing because the press gives it this negative spin all the time.' (Vice)

Last September, Ye questioned why people had problems with him declaring himself a religious figure but not a more stereotypical figure on his 'I Am A God' track.

'When someone comes up and says something like, 'I am a god,' everybody says, 'Who does he think he is?' I just told you who I thought I was. A god. I just told you, that's what I think I am. Would it have been better if I had a song called 'I am a n*gga?' Or if I had a song that said 'I am a gangster?' Or if I had a song that said 'I am a pimp.' All those colors and patinas fit better on a person like me, right? But to say you are a god? Especially when you got shipped over to the country that you're in and your last name is a slave owner's. 'How could you say that? How could you have that mentality?'' (BBC Radio 1) Could you use some new music? Not trying to spend any money?
