Kanye West Proposed To Kim Kardashian Before Kris Humphries

Kanye had been keeping his eyes on the prize for years! At a performance at London's Wireless Festival on July 4, the rapper went off on one of his typical rants and revealed that he had asked Kim Kardashian to marry him before they were ever even romantically involved.

'I told Kim seven years ago I would marry her and I made it happen. I just wanted to make something awesome and be awesome and change the world, and that's exactly what I plan to do,' Kanye West proclaimed about his now-wife Kim Kardashian during one of his signature public tirades at London's Wireless Festival on July 4.

Kanye stopped in the middle of his performance and went off on a 20-minute speech about discrimination in the fashion industry. Wearing a bedazzled mask, the crowd booed as the rapper got on his soapbox and droned on about his plight saying, 'I'm not going to mention any names but... Nike, Louis Vuitton and Gucci. Don't discriminate against me 'cos I'm a black man making music.' It was in the midst of this speech that Kanye dropped the news about the premature proposal to Kim - part of his mission to be 'living the dream' and land his ideal woman.

The couple who tied the knot on May 24 in a lavish ceremony in Florence, Italy actually met years ago when they were both in relationships with other people. In those days Kim Kardashian was tight with pal Paris Hilton and working with Brandy, the sister of her then-beau Ray-J.

Kanye recounted the tale to Kris Jenner on her short-lived TV show, 'I'm trying to remember if the first time we met her was being in the studio when she was Brandy's assistant. I think she brought us in something to drink that you can't drink on daytime TV, but were in the studio so it was OK. Or might have been when I was doing Brandy's video. I remember asking my manager, 'Who is that girl?''
