From Kanye West, Paul McCartney to every Simpsons ever

If it's a trend, a clip, a comment, a moment, a meme, a tag, or a topic, it's a thing. Thing Tank is a review of the week in things, and rates them either up or down.

FOOL DISCLOSURE

Facebook was reported to be testing a small group of users by flagging satirical articles with a 'Satire' tag, in a move that will greatly assist the stupid, which includes lousy satirists. (Slowly turns head to look squarely into the eyes of the Daily Currant.) If this enhancement works, Facebook may debut 'Narcissistic Validation' and 'Plea for Attention' tags. (That was a joke!)

DAYS OF D'OHS

Watching Principal Skinner convince Superintendent Chalmers that aurora borealis is occuring in his kitchen is reason enough to cancel your Sunday brunch. '22 Short Films About Springfield' airs at noon as part of FXX's #EverySimpsonsEver marathon, for which Vulture has posted the full schedule, and which has about eight days left. The New York Post's Page Six reports that Kanye West and Paul McCartney are collaborating on something that, unfortunately, isn't some sort of awesome ego-powered clean energy technology. An Instagram clip of Kanye muttering the rumored title confirms the nascent Macca-banger's place in our ever-shakier reality.

GLYPH HANGER

Electronic music hero Aphex Twin announces forthcoming album 'SYRO' high in the London skies (with a blimp bearing his logo), on the streets of New York (where it was found painted on the pavement), and in the depths of the 'deep Web' (via a URL viewable only through Tor browsers). Further adding to the album's obscurity, it will be released on a 'compact disc.'

Unless you're a terrifying dictator, it can be hard to convince a crowd of people to chant something you came up with in unison. Not anymore. The Gally app connects crowds at events puts suggested chants up for vote, and synchronizes them through a shared countdown. (Now we just need some sort of concise way to express that the Yankees aren't a very good baseball team.)
