Another wave of stolen explicit celebrity photos has reportedly surfaced on 4chan and Reddit.
This time, the celebrities affected include Kim Kardashian, Vanessa Hudgens, Hayden Panettiere, Mary-Kate Olsen, Avril Lavigne and soccer player Hope Solo among others. Jennifer Lawrence, who was a victim of a separate hack earlier this summer, is also reportedly among the stars to fall victim to the hackers' latest exploits.
The photos were allegedly posted first on 4Chan, according to though they were promptly removed by the site's administrators. The photos were also posted- and subsequently removed- on Reddit.
The identity of those who leaked the photos isn't clear but it's thought to be the same individuals responsible for the previous hacking. Those hackers were believed to have exploited security flaws in Apple's iCloud service. Apple later addressed the alleged vulnerabilities and CEO Tim Cook promised to make iCloud more secure.
Unlike the previous attack though, both Reddit and 4Chan- whose polices came under fire following the last celebrity photo hack- were quick to remove the newest images from their sites. 4Chan reportedly cited copyright infringement as the reason for removing the photos.
It appears a new version of the Reddit subgroup at the center of the previous scandal has cropped up on the site where there is an ongoing discussion surrounding the (now removed) photos. 'The Fappening' was banned by Reddit after the last attack.
