Kim Kardashian Divorce: Kanye West Skips Thanksgiving With His Family ...

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are reportedly headed for divorce, with new reports that Kanye West skipped Thanksgiving with the Kardashians and may be planning to move far from his wife.

For weeks, there have been reports of trouble between the couple, including a witness who saw Kim entering the offices of a popular divorce attorney a few weeks ago. But the situation appears to have grown worse around the holiday, with reports that Kanye West decided to spent Thanksgiving in Paris.

The New York Post had the details (via MediaTakeOut).

'Kanye West skipped a family Thanksgiving with the Kardashians.

'The rapper - without Kim and baby North - was spotted dining at Ralph Lauren's restaurant in Paris with two male friends Thursday.

'Meanwhile, Kim was in LA with the whole Kardashian Klan at Khloé's house.'

A source reportedly told MediaTakeOut that Kanye was upset about a recent trip that Kim took to Dubai, believing there may have been some 'funny business' during the trip. Others say that Kanye wants to take daughter North West and move to Paris.

If Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are headed for divorce, there are is a good chance that it turns ugly. Kanye is reportedly hanging on to an embarrassing secret that he could reveal if things take a turn.

Celeb Dirty Laundry noted the following.

'The couple has been arguing over this for the past few months, which is likely when the divorce speculation began. Now, after a recent report from Radar Online that stated Kanye was holding a very naughty secret about Kim over her head, CDL has cracked the code and can offer more details about the hidden threesome that reportedly involved Kim, Kanye, and a famous celebrity. While the name of the third party was not revealed in the original story, CDL did a little digging and we believe we've discovered exactly who was involved in the tawdry sex-romp. Kanye is using the secret threesome against Kim and really has her against the wall on this one.'

But there are others trying to steer Kim Kardashian and Kanye West away from divorce as well. Kim's mom, Kris Jenner, reportedly feels it will ruin her daughter's career if she were to divorce again.

Kim Kardashian: So Thankful for North West!

It may not be alluring as photos of Kim Kardashian nude.

But it's far more adorable.

Kim Kardashian has posted a new picture online in honor of Thanksgiving, giving Instagram followers a fresh look at daughter North West and penning as a caption that she's so 'thankful' for her 'best friend.'

Little Nori looks all grown up in the image, as she stands around in a black furry coat with matching pants and shoes.

She's also rocking some diamond earrings and her black hair is pulled back in a small bun.

Kim has been publishing more and more pictures of her child as North grows older.

She says she'd be fine with North posing naked someday, which is a VERY disturbing thought, and she's also been open of late about her plans to have a second child with Kanye West.

There's been some talk of Kardashian using a surrogate for this second baby, but that rumor has seemingly been put to rest.

We'll likely find out the truth soon, but, in the meantime, no matter what you may think her mother, one has to admit

North West is pretty darn adoable, isn't she?

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West Avoid Khloe Kardashian's Thanksgiving Party ...

The Kardashians are starting to splinter, which is good news for us - it means that the reign of the Kardashians is slowly [but excruciatingly] coming to an end. Khloe Kardashian posted a host of Instagram photos from her Thanksgiving dinner, but we're hearing that two very notable guests were missing decided to avoid the event: Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. Kim and Kanye reportedly spent the holiday in Paris, but the fact that they would miss spending the big day with their family? Hmmm, I'm thinking there's trouble in [fake] paradise.

Of course, Khloe Kardashian and Kris Jenner did everything possible to distract from Kim Kardashian and Kanye West missing Thanksgiving dinner. As I mentioned, they kept uploading picture after picture from the dinner, including posting effusive captions such as, ' Just Amazing @khloekardashian !! Thank you for having us Khloe I'm so proud of you...and OMG @jeffleatham for how beautiful the flowers are and how GORGEOUS the table is......truly blessed to spend Thanksgiving with my family #blessed #family #gratitude #thankful.'

Um, we get it. You guys are so BLESSED to have such a GORGEOUS table [wtf] and you are all so PROUD of the WONDERFUL Khloe Kardashian because [zomg] she COOKED a THANKSGIVING meal. It's a miracle, y'all. Forget Jesus coming from the dead after three days. Khloe Kardashian making thanksgiving dinner is the new miracle.

Seriously, these people are so full of crap. Sure Kris, use exclamations and all CAPITALS to distract from your two most famous guests, when they're too busy avoiding you and your ridiculously fame-whorey family every chance they get. We already know that Kanye West hates that entire family, but it looks like he's slowly starting to convince his wife to cut ties with them as well. It's certainly going to make future family reunions a bit awkward....

The New York Times, Kim Kardashian and the Information Apocalypse

Posted:

It all began on Saturday morning.

The New York Times didn't come.

When I wake up each morning, there's a print copy of the New York Times at my door. Before I dive into the swirling information vortex that is my day, I read the paper. But lately, I find myself asking 'why?' I'm not one of these hard-copy romantics. I don't have any historic love for paper over screens, or the need to hold an object in my hand.

But the other day, the paper didn't come.

And so, I was forced to change my info-rhythm. No big deal, I thought I'd just read the NY Times on my iPad. Now, perhaps it was an unfortunate day to go 'cold turkey' on single source, handheld, print, but I took the plunge.

I opened my iPad before coffee, and found myself staring straight at Kim Kardashian's naked rear-end. It was everywhere, my Facebook feed, my Twitter follows, even on LinkedIn. Now, maybe that's your idea of breakfast reading, but it was for me a large distraction. My daily ritual of stepping to the world of ideas was turned upside down.

It lead me to think about the difference between a single thread information delivery device, like the print edition of the NY Times (or any other print publication, or book for that matter) and the multi-threaded nature of a connected device.

Perhaps with discipline, I could learn to open the NY Times app, and not Facebook. But then there are IM's and emails that have come in from the night before, each hopping and flashing demanding attention. All of them urgent. All of them important to their sender, but each of them without context.

The thing is, patterns matter. The way we shape our days, the rhythm of our lives, the way our brains are trained to gather, organize, and process information. And until the arrival of the information apocalypse - we were almost keeping up.

But the shear volume of information has swamped our ability to engage it thoughtfully, and the pressure of advertisers to make the web a mass medium has driven information publishers into faster, broader, coarser information outbursts.

I wonder how Tim Berners-Lee feels about Kim Kardashian's naked attempt to 'break the web'. Is the swarm of attention-grabbing info-bites the place he imagined when he thought about what the prefix 'www' could bring us?

The good news is, our current state of raw information delivery won't be the end of the road for our emerging digital lives. The next step, after information overload, is coherent information organization. An emerging layer above the raw web called Curation. Curation isn't simply a filter or a category, is a holistic way of thinking about information organization.

Curated information will meet our needs in new ways, based on a simple principal that in a world of information abundance, people don't want more, they want less. Human scale information, organized and delivered to meet their needs.

Information isn't all equal, and timing matters. People or organizations that flood my feeds with irrelevant content will be relegated to the 'black hole' of isolation, take out of my field of vision. Respecting people's time and attention earns you points in the new information economy. Junk information, tracking pixels, cookies, and ads that h aunt me risk turning loyal customers into users of intelligent ad blockers and filters.

What it comes down to is I want to be able to fit my content consumption to my needs. Hard news when I want it. Info from friends and family about their adventures, when I'm in a more social frame of mind, and light fluffy news if and when I want that. But the nature of the nitchified web, advertisers can't continue to expect to operate mass-media principals.

The drive as advertisers to struggle to reach mass audience as the web becomes more specialized is turning each of my distinct tools and services into content that is trying to be all things to all people all the time. That simply isn't going to remain a principal that works.

Yes, Kim Kardashian broke the web. But she did something good as well. She woke up a small but emerging community of information consumers who don't want her oiled posterior to be the web we leave for our children.

Kanye West might FINALLY quit music for fashion after years of rumours

Kanye leaves music for fashion?

Could it finally be true?

A source close to Kanye West has suggested the style-conscious rapper is set to leave his first love - music - behind to focus on fashion.

Rumours about Kim Kardashian's better half swapping his decks for drawing boards have abound for years.

Cover stars: The pair finally broke into high fashion this year by landing on the front of fashion bible Vogue

But now apparently the producer's recent designing deal with Adidas could spell the end for the Bound 2 star's beats - at least for a while.

A source told New York Post's Page Six: 'After his next [collaboration] with Paul McCartney comes out, he's going to step away from music and concentrate on clothing.

'He got a $15million signing bonus from Adidas, but his line has been pushed back four times because he hasn't had enough time to work on it.'

The 37-year-old recently scrapped his deal with Adidas' shoe rival Nike to work with the brand.

His first serious venture into the world of the beautiful people came in 2011, when he launched his self-named clothing line at Paris Fashion Week.

However the Black Skinhead star cancelled his third showcase less than a year later and shut the brand shortly after.

A more fruitful foray into fashion came when he collaborated with luxury French clothing company APC, which sold out in less than 24 hours.

Kanye recently angered fans by reportedly delaying a flight, refusing to take selfies with people, and instead focusing on raunchy pictures of Kim on his laptop.

Kanye West 'Delays' Flight From Paris

The rapper reportedly 'didn't apologise' after holding up an early morning flight from Paris to Helsinki...

Kanye West reportedly held up a flight-load of passengers in Paris this week - and didn't even say sorry.

According to New York Post's Page Six, the rapper 'unapologetically' delayed a 7:35am flight from Paris to Helsinki on Tuesday as the rest of the passengers waited on a courier bus before boarding.

'Kanye and his assistant boarded in a huff', a source told the paper.

'The assistant sprinted to the bus from the gate with all of the travel documents, while Kanye walked casually behind him. They did not apologise for keeping everyone.'

The rapper still had (some) time for his fans though.

When asked to pose for a photo, the souce said: 'he initially seemed to say yes, but then pointed at the line of passengers behind them waiting to board and declined... mostly through hand gestures.

'He was almost mute. He was not talkative at all.'

Ye was supposedly more talkative when another fan approached him while boarding.

'When another couple passed his seat, the man said 'Hi Mr. West,' causing Kanye to look up. The man continued, 'I really liked your album, Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger - I mean, College Dropout. It gave me confidence in college.'

'When the fan offered a fist bump, Kanye paused briefly before returning the bump and telling him, 'Thanks',' the source added.

According to the article, Yeezy is said to have looked at his laptop for the remainder of the flight, which apparently displayed some 'nearly-nude' photos of a woman with long, dark hair.

Could Kim have another jaw-dropping photo shoot in the works, we wonder?

Kanye West Snubbing Music For Fashion Riches?

This is why media outlets that actually know about Hip-Hop culture and its artists will always be necessary. The New York Post seems to think Kanye West would actually back off music to focus strictly on fashion.

Kanye West is coming to the conclusion that there are bigger bucks in fashion than in music.'After his next [collaboration] with Paul McCartney comes out, he's going to step away from music and concentrate on clothing,' said my source. The sneakers West designed for Nike have become collectibles, selling for thousands of dollars, but West left Nike because he wasn't making enough money.'He got a $15 million signing bonus from Adidas, but his line has been pushed back four times because he hasn't had enough time to work on it,' said my source.West also has the distractions of baby North, and his much-photographed wife, what's her name?

Umm, is not feasible that Kanye West can do both music and fashion? And if you do even the slightest research into the motivation of Yeezy, you know that he is incredibly passionate about his music.

That's not going to stop. Ever.

Zenefits, an online broker, rattles health insurance industry

Posted: 11/28/2014 07:55:25 PM PST

Updated: 11/28/2014 07:57:56 PM PST

SAN FRANCISCO -- Software company Zenefits is the fastest-growing startup in recent memory, but selling computer applications isn't how the company earned that superlative.

Instead, Zenefits has morphed from a skeletal 15 employees into an army of nearly 500 and counting -- its revenue growth outpacing that of many valley software giants -- by upending the health insurance industry.

That's because this high-tech startup is also a health insurance broker, working as the middleman between businesses and health care providers such as Anthem Blue Cross.

It's a business model that hasn't been successful before, say venture capitalists and insurance experts, and it's made Zenefits one of the most-watched startups in the country and launched Parker Conrad, the company's unassuming and mild-mannered co-founder and chief executive, into the hard-charging, high-stakes valley tech boom. It has also sparked a bitter turf war between Zenefits and traditional insurance brokers, many of whom see the company as the greatest threat to their paychecks since health care reform.

'Zenefits is definitely a competitor to all employee benefits and insurance brokers,' said Paul Mifsud, founder and chief executive of Melita Group, an insurance and HR firm in Santa Clara. 'They are certainly a threat to the industry. Every broker in the country is scared now of Zenefits.'

But lest they watch their six-figure incomes be eaten away by a 34-year-old Harvard graduate and journalist-turned-tech entrepreneur, insurance brokers are now scrambling to launch a counterattack.

'We're building our own (software) solutions to compete,' said Rudy Garcia, a broker and founder of Qandun Insurance Agency in Southern California. 'Brokers are working harder than ever to keep their jobs with the Affordable Care Act and they are not going to lose to Zenefits, too.'

How did a piece of software create all this fuss? San Francisco-based Zenefits is a program for human-resource professionals to manage and administer employee health benefits, payroll, 401(k) plans, stock options, maternity leave and vacation time. And by most accounts, the software works remarkably well.

'It's all the things you need to get someone's attention and keep it over time,' said Alan Katz, a health insurance consultant and former president and chair of the National and California Association of Health Underwriters. 'They are smart folks. They are giving away software that is actually meaningful.'

The company can give software away for free because it makes bundles of money facilitating the sale of insurance between health-care providers and employers as well as earning a commission or broker fee. In this way, Zenefits is both selling health insurance -- online and without the paper-pushing typical in the industry -- and providing businesses a program where they can manage it. Competitors such as Workday, a Pleasanton-based HR software company, don't act as brokers.

'Nothing changes about your insurance, your insurance card and the price you pay,' Conrad said. 'But all of it happens online. You just hit go and we take care of everything, soup to nuts.'

Zenefits has a broker license in every state, although its 2,000 customers are spread across just 47. In California, Zenefits is the top broker for Anthem for companies with fewer than 50 employees, based on new business it brings the health-care provider.

Across Silicon Valley, investors and industry watchers say Zenefits' growth is unmatched. Lars Dalgaard, a partner at VC firm Andreessen Horowitz who invested in Zenefits, said the startup has outpaced even the lofty goals Conrad set.

'It blew my mind,' said Dalgaard. 'The typical ratios that a successful business would have, theirs were five to ten times greater.'

In August, the company made about $1.5 million in new business, its best month ever. In October, that number more than doubled. Zenefits launched in April 2013 after completing Y Combinator, a startup accelerator in Mountain View.

By the end of this year, its revenue will likely have grown 20 times greater than in 2013, although it is not profitable. This month, Zenefits opened a new office in Arizona to house 1,300 employees, more than tripling its San Francisco workforce.

'We don't see companies with this growth, ever,' said Jules Maltz, a partner at Institutional Venture Partners, a Zenefits investor. The company has raised $84 million, valuing the startup at an estimated $500 million. 'We've invested in 18 software-as-a-service companies and Zenefits is by far the fastest-growing of any of them.'

Insurance brokers have noticed. Many have asked Conrad to partner -- they would use the software to sign up their clients and split the commission. Conrad has always told them no, saying brokers are trying 'to grab a lifeline.'

'I do feel bad for them,' Conrad offers. 'I hate it when I lose a customer. I know what that's like. It sucks if your business isn't doing well.

'But for my part, I'm trying to build something myself. I don't get a particular joy out of it being painful for the next guy.'

To which brokers have responded -- game on.

'I tried to tell him that the brokerage community is a very tight-knit community and we protect each other and if it looks like you're coming in here to take business away, you're probably going to shoot yourself in the foot,' Garcia said.

Garcia said he is working with tech firms and health insurance agencies on a software program but didn't provide details. He is part of a growing group of brokers who are increasingly tech savvy, turning to online applications to serve businesses run by younger and high-tech CEOs.

'I don't think it will be very long before there are entrepreneurs out there providing brokers with similar software,' Katz said. 'In 12 to 18 months, you'll start seeing competing programs.'

Armed with similar technology, brokers could have a leg up. They argue Zenefits will never have the personal relationships with employers that is the key to success in the industry.

'If I'm going to spend $25,000 on a health plan, I want to talk to someone face to face,' Mifsud said. 'The process of making this decision is so complex it would almost be like replacing your CPA or attorney with an online system.'

About 44 percent of employees at small businesses and 62 percent of employees at large businesses get insurance from their employer, according to the Kaiser Family Foundation. Brokers traditionally make in-person visits to business owners to explain insurance options. Zenefits has a call center and does most of its business over email.

'They have people in their 20s fielding these calls and when difficult questions come in about a very specific situation, they're going to hit a point where they can't resolve a problem,' Garcia said.

But for now, it would seem businesses are just fine with the 20-somethings answering their phone calls. B&C Transit, a public transit firm in Oakland, switched from a traditional broker to Zenefits in August. The company is growing quickly and the prospect of hiring more HR staff was daunting.

'The idea of going paperless and having software where we could store everything was very appealing to us,' said Rashid Sigg, executive vice president of operations. 'The only concern we had was are they going to do as good a job as my previous broker. And they did.'

Kim Kardashian Shares Adorable Photos of North West, Says She's Thankful for ...

Kim Kardashian has a lot to be thankful for this year. Her app has made millions and millions of dollars, she got married to in an extravagant wedding and she successfully broke the Internet with her Paper magazine nude photoshoot.

But when Kim shared a photo on Instagram to show what she was truly thankful for, it only had one person in it: her adorable little girl North West.

'I'm so thankful for my best friend,' she wrote next to a photo of little North toddling away from her. 'N+K=❤'

She also shared a photo of North walking out of the house toward her, looking ridiculously sweet in a furry coat, black leggings and flats that looked like cat faces. Where can we get a pair of cat shoes? And in the background of the photo stood Georgia the dog, who almost steals the spotlight from North.

Last week, the 34-year-old said in an interview with Australian radio station 92.9 that she would support her daughter taking pics that were similar to her Paper magazine photoshoot.

'I would support anything she wants to do,' she revealed. 'I don't do anything with the intention to promote anyone else doing it-that's not even what I'm trying to do. I do it because I'm proud of it. And it empowered me to feel good about myself after I had gained 500 pounds and looked like a huge slob for so long.'

After news broke of Ryan Knight's sudden death in Kenosha, Wisconsin, his cause of death is still unknown.

An autopsy has been completed after the Real World New Orleans cast member was found dead Thursday morning, and no 'anatomical cause of death' was determined.

[ Related: Real World Star Found Dead On Thanksgiving ]

Police attempted to revive him when his body was found, but before that fatal moment, he had been complaining of stomach issues for about two days. There were no obvious signs of injury when he was found, but a friend had allegedly commented that he was covered in vomit when he was found, leading some to believe he choked on his own vomit.

Police also report that no drugs were found at the scene of the death, but it had also been reported Ryan had been partying hard with friends the night before. He had also allegedly told one friend that he was taking 'some pills.'

Officials are now waiting on toxicology results to get further information.

We hope his friends and family get some closure with this sad passing.

On Instagram, Celebrities Have Jokes ... Especially About Kim Kardashian

Imitation really is the sincerest form of flattery, it seems.

That, at least, was the message two weeks ago after a naked Kim Kardashian, slick with oil, posed for the cover of Paper magazine and a number of celebrities poked fun of her ample backside on Instagram.

The singer Joe Jonas photoshopped the face of his brother, Nick, on Ms. Kardashian's naked body, writing, 'What a tease.' And Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi used Photoshop to create a faux Christmas card, scoring points for creative use of red bows. (More than 255,000 people liked the photo.) Other celebrities who posted about the reality star include Miley Cyrus, Jaime King and Madonna. Chelsea Handler, who has made sport of the reality star before, juxtaposed a photograph of her own less voluptuous derrière with that of Ms. Kardashian's, writing:, 'Guess which one's real. Your move, instagram.'

Did those spoofs spark an online uproar? Hardly. Instagram has become the place where celebrities can mock other celebrities without the meanspiritedness usually associated with Twitter. Instagram photos cannot be reposted, which doesn't lend itself to flame wars like those on Twitter. (There, popularity is predicated on retweets and viral comments that can blow up in a celebrity's face overnight.) If Twitter, at times, resembles a brawl in the parking lot, Instagram seems more like gossip at the local bar.

'If you want to follow a conversation on Twitter, that's easy,' said Josh Bernoff, the senior vice president for idea development at Forrester Research and author of 'The Mobile Mind Shift,' a book about smartphone behavior. Users of Instagram usually see only the last three comments. 'That's why celebrities can post without everything going viral,' he said. 'The difference is the audience and what they see.'

One benefit for celebrities who post about one another on Instagram is that photographs, unlike tweets, are less open to interpretation because they are visual. 'They can't be taken out of context,' said Casey Newton, a Silicon Valley writer for The Verge who, among other things, chronicles online culture. Ms. Cyrus mocks a lot of celebrities on Instagram. She photoshopped her head onto the body of Nicki Minaj in a thong - her take on the cover art for Ms. Minaj's 'Anaconda.' (Ms. Minaj didn't like it much.) Ms. Cyrus poked fun at Lil' Kim, too. (She didn't seem to mind.)

But a well-placed dis from one celebrity to another is also as much about promoting one's career as it is about making fun of someone else. Jaime King, a star of the television series 'Hart of Dixie,' posted a photo of herself strutting across a parking lot dressed in a bra, stockings, high heels and minimal underwear. It was tagged #noneedtobreaktheinternet, a play on the idea that the release of Ms. Kardashian's naked photos would crash the Web. It attracted the attention Ms. King wanted, being republished by news media outlets online.

'If they are making fun of Kim, they are also mocking themselves,' said Bonnie Fuller, the editor in chief of HollywoodLife.com. She added: 'When you take pictures as outrageous as those, I don't think Kim thought she wouldn't be commented on. She has said she wouldn't exist without social media.'

Ms. Kardashian, for her part, recently told an interviewer on the Australian television show 'The Project' that she loved the photographs. 'I did it for me,' she said. Mr. Newton of The Verge agreed. 'I don't think she is reading what people are saying on Instagram,' he said. 'She is a case study, in part, because she is playing by a different set up rules.' Attention getters have always been the butt of other people's jokes.

'And the party girls end up laughing all the way to the bank,' he said.

KANYE WEST IS LEAVING MUSIC FOR FASHION

Kanye West has left an indelible mark on the music industry with his platinum selling albums and DGAF attitude. While we can't imagine a world where Kanye isn't producing new music, collaborating with A-list music icons, or touring the world, Page Six is reporting he's ready to step out of the limelight and onto the runway...sort of.

We all know Kanye is a huge fashion fan. He's on point with style and has had a huge influence on wife, Kim Kardashian's, image overhaul. Now, word is he's looking to make money in an industry that will never die.

'After his next collaboration with Paul McCartney comes out, he's going to step away from music and concentrate on clothing,' a source told the gossip column.

Kanye's past fashion efforts have included an insta-collector item sneaker for Nike and a multi-million dollar deal with Adidas.

Would you wear Kanye's designs?

Kanye West 'delays flight and ogles at near

He LOVES that naked bum shoot

Kayne West reportedly held up a flight and then spent the journey getting his own in-flight entertainment - in the form of near-naked pictures of his wife.

Well, we already know he LOVES that photoshoot wife Kim Kardashian did for Paper magazine.

The College Dropout star boarded a flight from Paris to Helsinki on Tuesday but left some passengers annoyed after holding up the journey, according to New York Post's Page Six.

A source told the publication: 'The whole flight was waiting on one of those buses that ferries passengers from the gate to the plane. Kanye and his assistant boarded in a huff.

'The assistant sprinted to the bus from the gate with all of the travel documents, while Kanye walked casually behind him. They did not apologise for keeping everyone.'

Once on the plane, Kimmie's hubby took his seat in first class but reportedly turned down a couple who asked for a selfie.

'He initially seemed to say yes, but then pointed at the line of passengers behind them waiting to board and declined ... mostly through hand gestures. He was almost mute. He was not talkative at all,' the source said.

'When another couple passed his seat, the man said, 'Hi Mr. West,' causing Kanye to look up. The man continued, 'I really liked your album, Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger - I mean, College Dropout. It gave me confidence in college.'

The 37-year-old offered a fist bump to his fan after the exchange, but was said to then turn his attention to his laptop, which displayed pictures of a scantily clad woman with 'long, dark hair'.

We wonder who that could be...

Affordable Health Insurance For College Students

The college years can be a stressful time for any student, but paying massive healthcare bills is one worry students shouldn't have on their plate. With the Affordable Care Act, students have more options than ever when it comes to finding affordable insurance.

Here are some paths to consider if you're attending school and looking for affordable coverage.

Stay on Your Parent's Plan

The Affordable Care Act (often referred to as ACA or ObamaCare) made it a little easier to join or remain on a parent's policy, which is often the least expensive option. Now, plans that cover dependents have to accept children until the age of 26. It may not cost your mom or dad anything extra to keep you on the plan, since some cover the entire family for a fixed price.

You can piggyback onto your parent's plan even if you're a student and no longer living at home - and you don't have to be a dependent for tax purposes, either. Things get a little more complicated if you attend an out-of-state institution, however. Depending on the plan, you'll want to check with the insurance carrier and make sure it has in-network providers near the school. Otherwise, your family could be paying a lot more if you need medical attention.

Consider a Student Health Plan

Many colleges offer their own health plans, which have key benefits over buying your own individual policy. Because you're buying as part of a group, the costs are generally much less expensive. In addition, you can often pay for premiums using your student loans, which is a definite plus for cash-strapped students.

One downside to these policies is that they're sometimes more restrictive than other forms of insurance in terms of what they cover. Therefore, it's a good idea to review your college's plan carefully before signing up.

Buy on Your State's Exchange

As a result of the ACA, each state has a health exchange, or marketplace, where private insurers offer standardized plans. One of the advantages of using the exchange is that you may qualify for income-based subsidies that can dramatically lower your insurance bill.

These subsidies are in the form of a tax credit, meaning you'll have to file a tax return to see if you qualify. So even if you don't make enough money to fill out a return otherwise, there's now a compelling reason to do so. When you're completing your application on the insurance exchange, select 'No' when asked if you have health coverage - even if you're currently on your school's plan and intend to relinquish it.

Several states have also expanded Medicaid, which provides inexpensive health care to low-income residents. Filling out the marketplace application will tell you whether you're eligible for even more savings under this joint state and federal program. For more, see Tips On The Healthcare Marketplace/Exchange.

Obtain Catastrophic Coverage

In many cases, a student health plan or one sold on an exchange will offer decent coverage at an affordable price. However, students on a particularly tight budget sometimes opt for catastrophic coverage instead.

As the name implies, these bare-bones policies are designed to provide some relief if you experience a major medical complication. Plans sold on an exchange are open to people under 30 (and those with a hardship exemption) and cover three primary care visits a year. Beyond that, you pay your healthcare costs out-of-pocket until you reach the deductible, which can be over $6,000.

Keep in mind that catastrophic plans are always a gamble. If you're relatively healthy, you'll benefit from their low premiums. But if something unforeseen should arise, you'll probably wish you had something more comprehensive. For more on these plans, see Lowering Your Costs For Marketplace Health Insurance Coverage.

The Bottom Line

These days, there are plenty of alternatives for university-level students looking for reasonably priced health insurance. To get the best deal, it's worth comparing all the different options. Be sure to look at what they cover, not just price, when making your decision.

Bernard Health will help you shop for health insurance on Black Friday

A few lucky shoppers in Tennessee, Texas, Indiana and Ohio could pick up the best deals in health insurance today, instead of fighting the mobs for big screen TVs and Frozen dolls.

Bernard Health has store fronts in five cities in four states. Founder Alex Tolber t wants to help people figure out what insurance plan is best for them. He said that selecting an insurance plan has become as complicated as doing your taxes.

'This is a problem to be managed, not solved,' he said. 'And at the core of it being more effectively managed is for people to have better resources to figure it out. That's our sweet spot, small employers, individuals and families.'

Tolbert is betting that over the next 15 - 20 years, group health insurance is going to go away completely and push even more health insurance decisions down to individuals.

In addition to stores in Nashville, Indianapolis, Cleveland and Austin, Tolbert also has advisers embedded in hospitals.

'Hospitals hire us to provide help to their patients,' he said. 'It's one thing to hope that your patients sign up for health insurance but what about signing up for a plan that includes the hospitals they use?'

Tolbert said that he has been working with hospitals in rural areas and that the company's advisers have become small enrollment centers. Advisers are all on salary, and they get a commission on some sales to small businesses.

Tolbert started Bernard Health (as in St. Bernard, the dog that rescues people lost in the mountains) when he was in graduate school getting a JD/MBA degree at Vanderbilt University. He sees the company as an alternative to the call center model. Because commissions on health insurance sales are so low, that is the only business model that has flourished.

'Commissions are terrible, they are part of medical loss ratio under healthcare reform,' he said. 'They don't cover the amount of help people need.'

Bernard Health advisers will help people sign up for insurance on an exchange for free (like a 27-year-old who can't be on her parents' policy any more). They also offer consulting sessions for people with more complex decisions to make, such as an older married couple. One person might be ready for Medicare but the other is not eligible yet. 'We have an hourly consulting rate of $150 and we also offer a flat fee product Mediguidance, which covers 2 meetings,' he said. 'We figured out there are 15 different ways to receive Medicare benefits.'

Tolbert said health insurance needs are nuanced and don't fit into a standard list of questions offered on web forms used to sign up for insurance. After advisers talk with customers about their individual situations, the conversation moves to plans and rates.

'We want to be the Switzerland between carriers and the medical providers,' he said.

Tolbert bootstrapped for the first several years after he started the company in 2006 and in 2013 raised money for the first time. The first Bernard Health store opened in 2010. Bernard Health just launched in Atlanta, but the store is not open yet.

Kanye West Is Not Having Life

is not having a life-sized statue made of butt that was featured on the cover of Paper magazine. Gossip Cop can exclusively bust this claim, which was published earlier this week. The National Enquirer started the rumor, but it is not true.

A so-called 'insider' tells the supermarket tabloid that West is so 'obsessed' with Kardashian's booty (and it's depiction on the cover of Paper) that he's having it replicated in a statue. The magazine adds that the rapper wants it to 'take center stage in their house,' and so he's going to put the 'real-size' stone version of it in their foyer. The Enquirer 's supposed source says, 'Kanye's commissioned a sculptor, who's going to take molds of her body for the statue,' and 'Kim can't wait to see the end product.' And, it should be done by a week from... never.

West is not having a life-size stone sculpture of his wife's butt made so everyone can be greeted by it when they come to his and Kardashian's home. His rep tells Gossip Cop exclusively that the Enquirer report is 'ridiculously false.'

It should be no surprise that the report is wholly untrue. Just last week, the Enquirer wrongly claimed that West was using 'corporal punishment' on his daughter North, and that Kardashian was having ribs surgically removed to help her achieve an hourglass figure. And not long before that, the tabloid fabricated a report that said the couple now does 'naked yoga.'

Kanye West Blamed For Recent Flight Delay Before Onlookers Caught Him ...

Surprise, surprise - Kanye West lacks airplane etiquette!

The rapper, who is well-known for his poor manners, reportedly held up a flight from Paris to Helsinki on Tuesday when he and his assistant showed up way past boarding time.

[ No More Kardashian Khristmas Kard And It's All Kanye West's Fault?! ]

A source close to the situation explained:

'The whole flight was waiting on one of those buses that ferries passengers from the gate to the plane. Kanye and his assistant boarded in a huff. The assistant sprinted to the bus from the gate with all of the travel documents, while Kanye walked casually behind him. They did not apologize for keeping everyone.'

Yep, sounds like Yeezus to us.

To make matters even worse, the Bound 2 singer barely acknowledged fans by refusing to communicate verbally with them!

When a couple asked Kim Kardashian's hubby for a picture, he declined by using only hand gestures!

An onlooker revealed:

'He initially seemed to say yes, but then pointed at the line of passengers behind them waiting to board and declined...mostly through hand gestures. He was almost mute. He was not talkative at all.'

Well, we have to admit it probably wasn't the best time for a picture. Still, West could have at least used his words to say no!

The most interesting part of the plane debacle, however, occurred when Yeezy appeared be 'ogling' a bunch of nude photos of a dark haired woman on his laptop.

All we can say is, we hope the nudie pics were of Kim!

Maybe next time you should schedule a private plane, Kanye!
