The exchange's web site has been plagued with problems.
The deadline for enrollment through the Silver State Health Insurance Exchange is March 31 and the state of Nevada had hoped to have 118,000 people signed up. But only 22,500 people have been able to sign up and pay so far.
There are a number of problems. First, the Nevada health link web site tells people there is no health insurance available.
CJ Bawden with the Health Link says 1,500 people who did manage to sign up ran into more trouble.
'Most of the problems that we are encountering today are around payment and reconciliation making sure that the payment is applied to the account and invoicing,' says Bawden.
Bawden says people are being billed for more than they owe and the system is having trouble identifying the plans for which people signed up. Because of those and other problems, people who try to sign up before the March 31 deadline and can't, will get a 60-day extension. People who don't try to sign up in the next seven days will get no extension and they will have to wait until November to try again.
