Citizens can get help signing up for marketplace health insurance at a free event in Covington on Saturday (March 15), sponsored by the NAACP and the League of Women Voters of St. Tammany. The event begins at 1 p.m. at Faith Bible Church at 1148 N. Columbia St.
The purpose of the program is to inform, educate and assist citizens and small business owners with applying for marketplace health insurance prior to the March 31 deadline, according to a news release from the League of Women Voters.
Navigators from the Southwest Louisiana Area Health Education Center and Southern United Neighborhoods will help walk citizens through the complicated process of buying health insurance. A representative from the federally qualified health center has been invited to participate, and representatives from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana and the Louisiana Health Cooperative are expected to be on hand.
Attendees are encouraged to visit http://ift.tt/1g10GcL or www.healthcare.gov prior to the event to get a list of documents that are required to sign up for health insurance, the news release said.
