Kanye West debuts trailer for 'Yeezus' film

Kanye West 's elaborate Yeezus tour is coming to theaters.

After wrapping the North American leg of the tour earlier this week, West quietly debuted a trailer for the film on his official website.

The clip featured a quick flurry of shots from the production, dramatic scenes such as horses running in snow and West in his many masks.

A recent interview with Vice author Bret Easton Ellis ('Less Than Zero,' 'American Physco') revealed he was collaborating with West on a film project after the rapper enlisted him to reimagine a scene from 'American Psycho' for a promotional clip for 'Yeezus.'

Ellis said he had penned a script that was in 'Kanye land.'

'He came and asked me to write the film. I didn't want to at first. Then I listened to 'Yeezus,' ' Ellis said. 'It was early summer last year, and I was driving in my car. He'd given me an advance copy, and I thought, regardless of whether I'm right for this project, I want to work with whoever made this. ... That was seven or eight months ago. We'll see what happens.'

Considering the trailer primarily features scenes from the ambitious production, it's uncertain whether the film is the same project that Ellis discussed.

The 'Yeezus' film was helmed by Hype Williams. The prolific music video director worked with West a number of times during the self-proclaimed genius rapper's career, directing many of his videos, including 'Gold Digger,' 'Stronger,' 'Heartless,' 'Amazing' and 'All of the Lights.'

Given West's knack for spectacle, filmgoers will likely be curious to see what the oft-polarizing provocateur created. And while the jarring album offers plenty to work with for any director, the production itself came with its share of drama.

Numerous woes forced West to shift the itinerary of the tour due to the elaborate production that featured a mountain and a massive LED screen.

A number of dates were rescheduled, and some were canceled altogether due to routing and production logistics. The tour was even halted at one point after a truck carrying the set's custom-made video truss and a 60-foot circular LED screen was in an accident on the way to a gig.

A release date for 'Yeezus' has yet to be announced.
