Sarah Michelle Gellar: Stop Dissing Kim Kardashian's 'Vogue' Cover

Share on :
Sarah - what are you thinking? You've taken to Twitter to get nasty and encourage others to cancel their 'Vogue' subscriptions just because Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are featured on the April cover.

Sarah Michelle Gellar, how can you be so cruel? Why have you tweeted, 'Well... I guess I'm canceling my Vogue subscription. Who is with me???'?

Sarah Michelle Gellar Is Jealous Of Kim Kardashian's 'Vogue' Cover: Stop Dissing

Kim Kardashian looks absolutely beautiful on the April Vogue cover in a strapless Lanvin wedding gown, and Kanye West looks handsome and loving.

The magazine's cover line reads: 'Kim & Kanye, Their Fashionable Life and Surreal Times,' underlined by the hashtag '#WorldsMostTalkedAboutCouple.'

Take Our Poll

There's absolutely NOTHING offensive about the cover, which was shot by one of the world's very top photographers, Annie Liebovitz. And even baby North West, looking absolutely adorable, is featured in a short video shot of the couple to go along with their cover.

There's absolutely nothing about the elegant cover to incite your venom, Sarah - except possibly jealousy.

Clearly you are not a fan of Kimye and you don't feel they deserve to be on the world's #1 magazine, but I beg to differ.

Whether you like Kim or not, she is an enormous style influencer. Her comfort with wearing clingy clothing highlighting her pear shape and bootylicious figure has given inspiration and self-esteem to millions of similarly-shaped women.

The red Calvin Klein two-piece top and skirt that she was sighted in on March 19 was stunning.

Kim has given permission to women everywhere with big booties to be proud of their backsides - and that's so positive.

'Vogue' Editor-In-Chief Anna Wintour: 'Kanye & Kim Are Influential Pop Culture Icons'

Kanye, meanwhile, is a critically recognized musician who always pushes the artistic limits. Plus, he, like his fiancée, has millions of avid fans. So why are Kim and Kanye, who are certainly one of the world's most talked about couples, not worthy of the Vogue exposure?

Vogue's editor-in-chief Anna Wintour said it herself in her Editor's Letter: ' Kanye and Kim are influential pop culture icons. There's barely a strand of the modern media that the Kardashian-Wests haven't been able to master,' she wrote. 'Kanye is an amazing performer and cultural provocateur, while Kim, through her strength of character, has created a piece for herself in the glare of the world's spotlight, and it takes real guts to do that.'

Anna also pointed out that Vogue always looks to 'feature those who define culture at a given moment.'

Well, Sarah - Kim and Kanye certainly do that. Whether you like it or not, the Kardashians have been leaders in popularizing reality TV shows, which are now a staple of TV. They have redefined the idea of celebrity. You don't have to be a major and inaccessible movie or TV star to be considered A-list.

No, Kim and her family have shown that being open and NOT mysterious actually creates far more heightened interest in a star than hiding away does. This is a huge cultural change, and Kim and Kanye are comfortable in the midst of it.

Sarah, when you're hating on Kimye on the Vogue cover, are you saying that they don't have the caliber or status of other stars who have been featured on the mag's cover?

I would argue that Vogue's cover choices in the past couple of years - Katy Perry, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Lena Dunham and Kristen Stewart - are just as notorious in their way as Kim and Kanye are. And they are equally huge popular cultural phenomenons.

It's too bad that you've chosen to publicly diss Kim and Kanye, which only encourages other viciousness.

The day Vogue died.

Oh please, Sarah, do you really want to be in this obnoxious company? Would you want another actress publicly putting you down if you made the cover of Vogue? I don't think so.

So, Sarah Michelle Gellar, rethink your public remark and start working on your apology.

Do you agree, HollywoodLifers? Should the Kimye Vogue haters shut up? Let me know.
