Kanye West Receives Strict Judge Order, Catches Break Over Prosecutors

Written by Cyrus Langhorne

Grammy-winning rapper Kanye West caught a lucky break recently as reports claim he avoided having to attend court-ordered anger management classes requested by prosecutors.

Details of Kanye being forced, however, to keep his distance from a photographer he attacked last summer surfaced online Monday (October 7).

Kanye West was just ordered to stay 10 yards away from the photog he attacked at LAX, but prosecutors got shut down when they asked that Kanye attend anger management classes ... TMZ has learned. Blair Berk -- considered one the most effective criminal defense lawyers in the country who reps tons of celebs -- appeared in court on Kanye's behalf to ask the judge to make prosecutors fork over all of the info they have in their criminal battery case. The judge ordered that the info be turned over, and then told prosecutors they should advise the photog -- Daniel Ramos -- to also stay away from Kanye. The judge said everyone involved should NOT use 'self-help' -- aka, inciting and ass-whooping. (TMZ)

Despite a plea from prosecutors, a judge would not sign off on Ye attending anger management classes.

But then ... prosecutors asked the judge to order Kanye to attend anger management classes as a condition of bail. The judge scoffed, and rejected the request. Berk is an interesting selection for Kanye because she's known for getting things done under the radar ... something foreign to his baby mama and her relatives. Kanye needs a Houdini because sources tell us prosecutors have 7 videos showing the attack from virtually every angle. As far as lawyers who are up to the task ... he chose right. (TMZ)

Last week, Kanye publicly spoke out on his respect for European photographers in comparison to the ones he's used to in the United States.

'Don't ask me no questions though,' Kanye said as he stepped out of a vehicle. 'Don't ask questions, just take the video. Don't do like the LA, like, I like how you guys move out here. You guys have total respect for yourselves. I respec that you're photographing and you also take time off like at 8 o'clock, you're not a people's houses. I just really appreciate and respect that. I understand that you have to make a living. So, [let me] shake your hand, I appreciate that.' (Storm Shadow Crew)

Mr. West's physical assault on the photographer back in July came back to bite him a few weeks ago.

City attorney's spokesman Frank Mateljan says West was also charged Friday with one count of attempted grand theft. The rapper's arraignment has been set for Oct. 10 but he is not required to appear if he has an attorney. Photographer Daniel Ramos claims West punched him in an unprovoked attack and wrestled his camera to the ground during an incident at the airport on July 19. Prosecutors declined to file felony charges against West, but city prosecutors decided to pursue misdemeanor charges. Each carries a penalty of up to six months in jail or a $1,000 fine.
