There's nothing like a healthy hip-hop battle and Eminem, Kanye West and Kendrick Lamar have willingly put themselves at the forefront of the mass debate in recent weeks and the competition has only been fuelled even more with Slim Shady boldly declaring himself a 'Rap God' on his new single. But is he the rightful claimant to the throne?

'New Slaves' rapper Kanye rattled a few cages earlier this month during his bizarre and ferocious interview with Radio 1's Zane Lowe in which he claimed that rap is the new rock n roll, bravely adding: 'We the new rock stars, and I'm the biggest of all of them. I'm the No.1 rock star on the planet.'

Musical genius you may be Kanye but the world's number one rock star? It's arguable, especially when other hip-hop stars like Kendrick Lamar have their say... Kendrick got everyone talking in August when his controversial verse on Big Sean's 'Control' was released and saw him challenge a host of his hip-hop peers to up their game, including Drake, A$AP Rocky and J. Cole, while also hailing himself as the 'King of New York, King of the Coast,' despite hailing from Compton.

Everyone who has ever had a place in rap had something to say about the rising star's statement considering New York natives such as Nas and Jay Z are still in the game, but surely it doesn't compare to Eminem's unapologetic declarations on his new song?

Eminem premiered 'Rap God,' a track from his upcoming album, 'Marshall Mathers LP 2' last night and the title doesn't allow for any question marks over the subject matter, which sees Eminem explain why he is the greatest rapper in the game.

'Look, I was gonna go easy on you and not to hurt your feelings but I'm only going to get this one chance,' Eminem warns before launching into the bridge: 'I'm beginning to feel like a rap God, rap God.'
