SPRINGFIELD, Mass (WWLP)- If you still hoped to sign up for health insurance through the state's market place program 22News has the information about who is still eligible to take advantage of the extended deadline and who's not.

Several deadlines to sign up for health insurance through the exchange marketplace have come, gone, and been extended.

'I think it will just keep going until they have everyone that they think should be signed up and that they can sign up... I mean why stop it.' Suzanne Mcelroy, from Westfield, said.

President Obama's administration pushed back the most recent March 31st deadline to April 15th.

Insurance experts here at Health New England told 22News that the extended April 15th deadline for you to enroll on the open market only applies to a select group of people.

It's only for those of you who started your application but had trouble finishing it because of problems with either the Massachusetts Health Connector website, or the federal website, healthcare.gov.

'If you did not do anything by March 31st, then you are going to have to wait until the next open enrollment period in November,' Elin Gaynor, a Health New England Insurance Counselor, told 22News.

Gaynor also said that is effective regardless of if you are applying through employer sponsored coverage or are looking to enroll on your own through private insurance, not just for those are using the marketplace to sign up.

What you enroll for in November won't give you coverage until January 1st, 2015.

But There are few people exempted from that rule. If you lost your health care coverage because you lost your job, or if you had a major life event, like got married, had a baby, or got divorce, then you can sign up for coverage before the November open enrollment period begins.
