Watch Kanye West Get Down on One Knee as He Proposes to Kim Kardashian

Kanye West isn't exactly a traditionalist, but when he proposed to Kim Kardashian on Monday, he popped the question like many others: down on one knee.

The romantic moment - which took place in the middle of AT&T Park in San Francisco - can be seen in a behind-the-scenes video that also shows the elaborate planning that went into the special moment.

There were fireworks, an orchestra, a ring that the rapper designed himself and the Jumbotron read 'Pleeease Marry Meeee' as the rapper, 36, surprised his daughter's mother.

As West popped the question, the reality star held her hands in front of her face and then embraced her boyfriend of 17 months, wrapping her arms around him. Then the couple's family and friends - including members of the Kardsashian family - raced onto the field to congratulate the happy couple.

In an interview with 99.7 NOW just hours before he proposed on Monday night, West gushed about his 'dream girl.'

'She's the love of my life. She gave me a beautiful daughter,' he said. 'She has a beautiful amazing family that is now my family.'

He also shared that his new fiancée is someone he relies on.

'Just the stability in this astronaut ride of life, particularly of fame, to have someone who understands, who's that sweet, who doesn't want me for my money,' he said, adding, 'She looks pretty good, too.'

West also admitted that since he and Kardashian welcomed daughter North in June, he's become more focused on helping others.

'It's one thing for me to say I want to do things to help the world ... It's another thing to really have a family, to really understand what it means to be a dad,' he said. 'It gives you a real perspective of the American dream, the world dream. The meaning of life to me is life itself. Family.'
