Even though the debut of Wilmington's new outdoor ice rink was a hit over weekend, it certainly wasn't the most buzzed-about subject on the Riverfront.
That's because hip hop king Kanye West spent some quality time with his Delaware family at the Stratosphere Trampoline Park Saturday night, a block away from the newly-opened rink.

Children and fans tried hard to get West's attention at the trampoline park with a few getting the notoriously straight-faced West to break into a smile. One lucky fan even got a photo with Mr. Kim Kardashian.
West was last spotted in Delaware at a family wedding at the University and Whist Club in Wilmington in September. He also made a splash when he attended UD's graduation ceremony in 2011.
According to the book 'Raising Kanye: Life Lessons from the Mother of a Hip-Hop Superstar,' written by West's late mother Donda, West's paternal grandparents settled down in Delmar. That's where West's father, Ray, was born. He later studied at the University of Delaware and was active in black student groups and the Black Panther Party.
And if you ever wondered where West gets his brash style, bne might look back to his father's time at UD.

Ray West landed on the front page of The Review, the UD student newspaper, in 1970 when he took over a student lounge and held a mock trial, sentencing former UD President E.A. Trabant to death for 'racism, lying, hypocrisy,and stabbing people in the back.'
West is currently working on a follow-up to 2013's 'Yeezus' with producer Rick Rubin.
