Kanye West in Yeezus shirt as 'Chicago tour dates are cancelled'

It was his homecoming, the moment he got to show his childhood peers just what he had become.

But Kanye West's Yeezus tour has been hit by yet more problems after he was reportedly forced to cancel two gigs in his hometown Chicago.

It comes after an piece of one-off equipment 'central' to the tour was damaged in a truck accident.

After postponing shows in Vancouver, Denver and Minneapolis West is now planning on pushing back his Chicago dates, according to an unconfirmed report by Complex.

Tickets for the shows, on Wednesday and Thursday this week, have yet to be withdrawn from sale, and calls to representatives for Complex and Kanye were not immediately returned.

Kanye is said to be unwilling to compromise on the staging of the show, insisting it goes ahead only as he envisioned.

A representative for Def Jam, his record label, explained in a statement: 'On the road to Vancouver, a truck carrying The Yeezus Tour's custom-made video truss and 60-ft circular LED screen was in an accident that damaged the gear beyond repair.

'This gear is central to the staging of The Yeezus Tour, and central to the creative vision put forth by Kanye West and his design team at DONDA.

'As a result of this event, it is impossible to put on the show and The Yeezus Tour will be postponed until these essential pieces can be reengineered and refabricated.

'Kanye West will not compromise on bringing the show, as it was originally envisioned and designed, to his fans.'

The tour is Kanye's tour in five years, and got off to a good start in Seattle last month, with performances going ahead as scheduled in LA and Vegas.

But his plans to visit around 20 more cities have been scuppered by the equipment fail.

Kanye certainly looked rather annoyed as he returned to his Hollywood Hills home on Tuesday.

Dressed in a sweatshirt baring the name of his crisis-hit tour, he kept his head down as he walked inside.
