Being a hockey player, Patrice Bergeron likely knows a thing or two about health insurance.
The Boston Bruins forward, therefore, is helping people sign up for health insurance at a Health Connector Enrollment Fair scheduled for Dec. 9.
The fair takes place from noon to 8 p.m. at the Courtyard Marriot in Boston, with Bergeron making an appearance from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The event will allow residents to get free help signing up for insurance through the state's Health Connector website.
Open enrollment began Nov. 15. As of Dec. 4, over 116,000 people had been determined eligible for health insurance through the state's website. As of Wednesday, 49,928 people were signed up for MassHealth. Another 58,227 people have been found eligible for Health Connector plans, of which 29,439 people have shopped and selected their plans.
Residents can apply at the event or enroll online at the website.
