Group helps people sign up for health insurance

(NEWSCHANNLE 3) - If you are looking to have insurance coverage through the new health care law by the first of the year you have just days to sign up.A group of non-profits in both Kalamazoo and Calhoun counties are holding a series of workshops to help walk people through the process.They tell us enrollment in Calhoun County is down this year and they want to help. The groups are called Enroll Kalamazoo and Enroll Calhoun. They have certified counselors available to help people navigate the healthcare.gov website.The Obama administration says the website is working more smoothly this year, after major technical problems plagued the program last year. But the process can still be pretty confusing.If you want health care by January 1st, you must sign up on the website by December 15th. There are 63 more options this year, some that could provide bigger savings, and experts recommend getting help to figure them all out.The next Enroll Calhoun event is Tuesday, at the Regional Manufacturing Technology Center on Hill Brady road in Battle Creek, from 3 to 7 p.m.There are a number of other events in Kalamazoo and Calhoun Counties too.
