WYOMING, MI - Metro Health is teaming with insurer Humana Inc. to offer a new health insurance plan.
The plan, announced Tuesday, Dec. 9, is a health maintenance organization that provides in-network access to Metro Health Hospital, 12 neighborhood physician offices and 500 affiliated physicians. Humana is a national insurer based in Louisville, Ken.
Under the HMO plan, coverage of out-of-network providers is available only if there is a medically necessary procedure that was not available within Metro Health's network or in the case of an emergency situation, officials said.
The plan is offered on Michigan's Health Insurance Marketplace.
'Having access to primary care and a relationship with a primary care physician is the cornerstone to managing health,' said Mike Faas, chief executive officer of Metro Health. 'We are happy to partner with Humana to help provide access and improve the health of our community.'
