Kanye West looks apologetic as he arrives at premiere without Kim Kardashian

He just celebrated the 10 year anniversary of his debut album The College Dropout with his fiancee Kim Kardashian.

And after being treated like a king by his supportive partner, Kanye West was most certainly missing Kim on Wednesday as he attended a film screening alone in New York.

The 36-year-old rapper arrived in a clearly thoughtful mood to the BAM premiere for River Of Fundament, a reinvention of Norman Mailer's novel Ancient Evenings.

Wearing a fuzzy jumper and long sleeve shirt, the Pretty Lights rapper was cool and casual in leather trousers for the star-studded event.

The film by Matthew Barney reinvents Mailer's novel about reincarnation and the American car industry and utilises sculpture, opera, and various other forms of multi-media to tell the unconventional narrative.

The film stars Maggie Gyllenhaal, Paul Giamatti, and Ellen Burstyn.

Monday marked exactly 10 years to the day that Kanye released his debut LP The College Dropout.

And supportive fiancée Kim made sure to mark the anniversary with a special dinner for her man, before taking to Instagram to share a picture with their fans.

The snap shows a giant cake in the shape of the teddy bear which appears on the album artwork with the words '10 Year Anniversary' written underneath and Kim captioned the picture, 'Ya you know what this is....it's a celebration bitchessss' #TheCollegeDropoutDinner (sic).'

A clearly delighted Kanye is shown smiling at the cake as Kim stands proudly by his side.

On Monday Kim, 33, posted a picture of the album cover and vowed to spend the whole day listening to the record to celebrate the anniversary.

She wrote: '10 years ago today Kanye released his 1st album The College Dropout! This was a game changer! Could only imagine what you were thinking and feeling today 10 years ago! Happy anniversary to the best producer/artist over the past decade!!!! Can't wait for the next 10 years!

Gonna be listening to this album all day. #TheCollegeDropout #ChangedHipHop (sic).'

Meanwhile, an emotional Kanye, 36, who welcomed baby daughter North with Kim last summer, posted a series of tweets talking about what the record meant to him.

He said: 'Ten years ago today we finally released what had been my life's work up to that point: The College Dropout.

'I say 'finally' because it was a long road, a constant struggle, and a true labor of love to not only convince my peers and the public that I could be an artist, but to actually get that art out for the world to hear.

'I am extremely grateful to each and every person along that road who helped, lent an ear, lent their voice, gave of their heart to that project, and to all the projects that followed, and are to come.

'I am honored and humbled by my fans, for the unwavering support and love over the past ten years.

'I wake up every day trying to give something back to you that you can rock to and be proud of.

'Ten years later I am still the same kid from Chicago, still dreaming out loud, still banging on the door. The doors may be heavier, but I promise you WE WILL BREAK THEM (sic).'
